Marketing Motivation: Loving What You Do Is the Strongest Asset to Your Brand

According to CBS News, in the United States, there are over 100 million people in full-time positions, where 51% are disengaged with their current job, meaning they lack a sense of identification or connection with their career. The reality is, most people take a job out of need rather than because they are passionate about the type of work, industry, or even employer. In marketing, when you have a disconnection to the industry, product/service, or brand you are pushing, it becomes hard to find the energy and drive to create unique and creative content.

Passion Excites Creativity

Our love and passion for the brands we promote are the best weapon in our creative arsenals we have at our disposal. The late Steve Jobs discovered that he was passionate about design and technology, and that’s what helped him build his brand and the cultural community surrounding Apple products. Steve said,

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”

Loving Your Brand

He’s right. Don’t settle. Being a passionate marketer is the key to being an active marketer. In your current marketing role, do you have a connection your brand? We often take new positions in marketing to “make money,” not necessarily out of passion, but out of need. Understand your specific desire from the start and develop a plan to find a position within the industry you love, the products and services which drive you, and the brands you already may be advocating.

Love what you do. Do what you love.
Sometimes, it’s that simple.
